This program is suitable for students at all Mandarin language levels. From the global metropolis of Shanghai you will also visit multiple cities in China, including Hangzhou, Xi'an, Beijing and the Great Wall of China.
Overview: The Semester in Shanghai: Chinese Language and Culture offers students a rigorous language program and an in-depth sight of China. No matter of your Mandarin skills, you will be introduced to one of the oldest languages in the world and get familiarized with one of the richest cultures. You will be trained by professional Chinese teachers in listening, speaking, reading and writing. In order to guarantee the quality, students will be divided into 8 classes of low, middle and high level according to their Chinese language ability.
Setting Description: Shanghai is the largest city in China in terms of population and one of the largest urban areas in the world, with over 20 million people in its extended metropolitan area. Located on China's central eastern coast at the mouth of the Yangtze River it developed from a fishing and textiles town in the 19th century to a center of commerce between east and west and a multinational hub of finance and business.
